Fear - A Poem

Fear creeps in like a thief in the night,

Silently stealing away all that's right.

It grips your heart with icy claws,

And fills your mind with endless flaws.

Your breath becomes shallow and slow,

As you feel the panic start to grow.

Your thoughts are consumed with “what if”,

And you feel like you're about to fall off a cliff.

It is a feeling that grips the soul,

You're frozen in place while it takes its toll.

The fear takes hold and won't let go,

As you struggle to find a way to grow.

You try to rationalize, to make sense of the dread,

But fear fills the heart and continues to spread.

It clouds your judgment and says you’re not enough,

And you're left feeling stuck, and so unloved.

But fear can also be a wondrous friend,

A guide that helps us to transcend.

It shows us what we need to face,

And with courage we can do so with grace.

In the darkness of fear, there is a light,

A hope that shines so clear and bright.

For you are strong, brave, and true,

And fear has no power over you.
