Self-love this February

You are worthy of love. Valentine’s Day tomorrow can bring up complex emotions and feelings of pressure for survivors of sexual trauma. Accepting “love” and all that may mean for you can be difficult. You are not alone. Give yourself compassion, and honor exactly where you are. You are deserving of all kinds of love.

Celebrate Courage! Event

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

This year, as part of our Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities, we are holding our first Celebrate Courage! event. This will be an opportunity to recognize the courage of survivors of sexual trauma and for the wider community to join in the celebration as well as learning more about Courageous Survivors and the work we do.

Save the date Saturday 29 April 2023

There will be speakers, games, food, and lots of fun. More details soon on our website. In the meantime, if you want to be sure to receive an invitation, contact janet@courageoussurvivors.org

Some Simple Self-Care Ideas

Take a mindful walk
Read a book
Listen to music
Write in a journal
Go for a hike
Sit in nature
Eat a mindful meal
Color in a kid’s and/or adult coloring book
Set a small boundary
Play or learn to play an instrument
Do some art journaling
Say/Write positive affirmations to yourself
Listen to an audio book
Take a bubble bath with candles
Take a nap
Make a list of 10 accomplishments you did in the last year
Watch your favorite movie
Take a break from technology
Volunteer somewhere or send a complimentary text (or phone call) to someone
Forgive yourself for not being perfect at self-care
Go to a bookstore
Do an anonymous random act of kindness

Support Groups

Courageous Connections Online Group for women survivors of sexual trauma meets Wednesdays, 3:00-4:30pm (AZ Time)

The group is led by a therapist and focuses on support, hope and healing. To join or get more details, visit the Support Groups page.
